Ed Farmer, born on October 18, 1949, was an American former professional baseball player who played in the Major Leagues as a relief pitcher for 11 seasons from 1971 through 1983. He was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois, and attended St. Rita of Cascia High School on Chicago’s South Side, where he played baseball and basketball. After high school, he was drafted in the fifth round of the 1967 MLB draft by the Cleveland Indians, but he did not sign. More about Ed Farmer

After retiring from baseball in 1986, Farmer became a broadcaster and was the radio announcer for the White Sox for 28 seasons, until his passing on April 1, 2020. He was known for his deep voice and colorful commentary, and was beloved by White Sox fans for his passion for the game and his willingness to call it like he saw it.
