Ed Herrmann Autographs
Edward Kirk Herrmann, commonly known as Ed Herrmann, was an American professional baseball player born on August 27, 1946, in San Diego, California. He was a left-handed catcher, and he began his baseball journey at Clairemont High School, where he played as a pitcher and infielder. Ed Herrmann was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 1962 and started his professional baseball career in the minor league before being called up to the majors in 1967.
Ed Herrmann played 11 seasons in the Major League Baseball (MLB), with the Chicago White Sox (1967-1974), New York Yankees (1975), and the California Angels (1976-1977). He was a two-time All-Star in 1972 and 1974 and won the American League home run crown in 1974 with 19 home runs. Throughout his career, Herrmann played in 832 games, accumulating 664 hits, including 80 home runs and 298 runs batted in. Despite his offensive prowess, his defensive skills are what truly set him apart, as he was known for his outstanding throwing ability and great hands behind the plate.
Ed Herrmann's baseball career was plagued by injuries, particularly a separated shoulder, which contributed to his early retirement in 1978. Following his retirement from baseball, Herrmann went on to become an actor and made appearances in popular movies and TV shows, including The Great Waldo Pepper, Reds, The Good Wife, and Gilmore Girls. He passed away on December 19, 2014, at the age of 67, after a battle with cancer, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the baseball world.
