Ed Kirkpatrick Autographs
Ed Kirkpatrick was an American professional baseball player born on October 8, 1944, in Spokane, Washington. He played as an outfielder and first baseman in Major League Baseball for ten seasons from 1962 to 1974. Kirkpatrick attended Gonzaga University in his hometown, where he began playing for the university baseball team. In 1962, the California Angels signed Kirkpatrick as a free agent, and he made his Major League debut the same year.
Kirkpatrick played for the California Angels from 1962 to 1969 before being traded to the Kansas City Royals in 1970. He was known for his reliable hitting skills as he recorded a batting average of .239 with 802 hits, 114 home runs, and 461 runs batted in over his ten-year career. As a left-handed batter, Kirkpatrick was most effective against right-handers and often played in the outfield. He played his last Major League game with the Texas Rangers in May of 1974 before retiring from professional baseball.
Despite the fact that Kirkpatrick's career statistics were largely unremarkable, he remains a memorable figure in the Kansas City Royals organization. In August of 1971, Kirkpatrick hit one of the longest home runs ever recorded at the Royals' stadium at that time. His ball cleared the left-field wall, sailed over a row of trees, and landed on a nearby street. Fans of the Royals still remember Kirkpatrick and his contributions to the team, even as they continue to strive for success in a constantly evolving game.
