Eddie Basinski Autographs
Eddie Basinski was born on November 4, 1919 in Buffalo, New York. He was a professional baseball player who played as an infielder in the Major League Baseball from 1944 until 1953. Basinski graduated from the University of Buffalo, where he played college baseball, and later signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1943. During his baseball career, Basinski played for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Chicago Cubs.
Basinski was a scrappy player who was not known for his hitting but was an excellent fielder. He was a utility player who played multiple positions, primarily second base, third base, and shortstop. Basinski made his Major League debut on April 20, 1944, and played his last game on September 29, 1953. During his career, he batted .245 with 2 home runs and 78 RBI in 520 games.
After his baseball career, Basinski became an umpire for the International League before becoming the head baseball coach at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. Basinski was inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame in 2001 for his contributions to the sport of baseball. He passed away on November 28, 2012, at the age of 93. Eddie Basinski will always be remembered as a hard-working and versatile player who earned the respect of his teammates and opponents alike.
