Eddie Perez Autograph
Eddie Perez is a former Venezuelan baseball catcher who played in the Major League Baseball (MLB) for over a decade. He was born on May 4, 1968, in Ciudad Ojeda, Venezuela, and signed as an amateur free agent with the Atlanta Braves in 1986. He spent the first half of his career as a backup catcher for the Braves, but his defensive skills, pitch-calling abilities, and leadership made him a fan favorite and a valuable asset to the team. From 1995 to 2001, he was the personal catcher of Greg Maddux, one of the best pitchers in baseball history. Perez was also a key member of the Braves' pitching staff that won five consecutive National League East titles from 1991 to 1995 and played in the World Series in 1991, 1992, and 1995. After retiring as a player, Perez became a coach and a manager in the minor leagues, working for the Braves, the Miami Marlins, and the Detroit Tigers organizations. In 2018, he was appointed as the first-base coach of the Braves, working alongside his former teammate and manager, Brian Snitker. He helped the Braves win the National League East title in 2018 and 2019 and reach the National League Championship Series in 2020. Eddie Perez is regarded as one of the best defensive catchers and pitch-callers of his era, and his long and successful career in the MLB is an inspiration to many young players, especially from Latin America.
