Elmer Dessens Autograph

Elmer Dessens is a retired Mexican professional baseball pitcher, born on January 13, 1971, in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. He started his baseball career at the age of 20 when he was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an amateur free agent. After four seasons in the Pirates minor league system, he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds, which gave him the opportunity to make his MLB debut in 1996. More about Elmer Dessens

Dessens played for nine different teams during his 14-year MLB career, including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Kansas City Royals, and New York Mets. He was known for his ability to pitch well in clutch situations and as a reliever, with a fastball that ranged from 89 to 95 mph, along with a solid curveball and changeup.

Dessens retired from professional baseball in 2013 with a career record of 53-63, 4.56 ERA, and 581 strikeouts. His best season was in 2002, where he had a 7-4 record with an impressive 2.49 ERA.
