Enos Slaughter Autographs
Enos Bradsher Slaughter was a former American outfielder who played for the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees, Kansas City Athletics, and the Milwaukee Braves in Major League Baseball (MLB). Born on April 27, 1916, in Roxboro, North Carolina, Slaughter played 19 seasons in the major league from 1938 to 1959. He was known for his excellent fielding skills, base running, and contact hitting, which contributed heavily to his success in the game.
Slaughter played 13 seasons for the St. Louis Cardinals, where he became an integral part of the team’s success. In 1946, he led the Cardinals to a World Series championship, batting .318 with 18 runs scored and 10 RBI. Two years later, he recorded his career-best hits with 188 while batting .382 leading the league. Slaughter consistently ranked in the National League’s top 10 in batting average, stolen bases, runs scored, and on-base percentage throughout his career. He was also an All-Star selection ten times in his career and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985.
Enos Slaughter was renowned for his "mad dash" in Game 7 of the 1946 World Series where he scored the winning run for the Cardinals. Known for his hustle on the basepaths, it was his most iconic moment in baseball history. Slaughter’s achievements helped establish him as one of the best outfielders of his era. He retired in 1959 with 2,383 hits, 169 home runs, and a batting average of .300. He continued to be actively involved in baseball as a coach even after his playing days were over. Enos Slaughter died on August 12, 2002, at the age of 86.
