Rasmussen's career really took off when he was drafted by the California Angels in the first round of the 1972 Major League Baseball draft. He made his MLB debut with the Angels in 1975 and spent the next few seasons bouncing between the majors and minor leagues. In 1978, Rasmussen was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals, where he played two seasons and put up some of the best numbers of his career.

Overall, Rasmussen played 10 seasons in the majors, pitching for four different teams: the Angels, Cardinals, Kansas City Royals, and San Diego Padres. He finished his career with a record of 57-58 and a 3.85 earned run average. Although he was never an All-Star, Rasmussen was a dependable starter and relief pitcher who made a solid contribution to every team he played for. Read even more about Eric Rasmussen at Wikipedia
