Eric Yelding is a former American professional baseball player who enjoyed an illustrious career that lasted for a little over a decade. Born on February 22, 1965, in Montrose, Georgia, Yelding's love for baseball started at a tender age. He played baseball throughout his high school years but wasn't highly recruited for college baseball. Despite this, he was selected by the Houston Astros as the 19th overall pick in the first round of the 1984 Major League Baseball Draft.
Yelding made his Major League debut for the Astros on September 2, 1989, where he played as an outfielder. Over the next decade, he played for various teams, including the Montreal Expos, Chicago White Sox, and the Milwaukee Brewers. The former speedster was known for his excellent base stealing skills and finished his career with an impressive 153 stolen bases. Yelding also made a name for himself as a utility player, with the ability to play several positions around the field.
After his baseball career ended, Yelding became a coach and has remained influential in promoting baseball to the next generation. He is passionate about mentoring young players and works diligently to help them develop their skills. He remains one of the most remarkable baseball players to ever grace the field, with an impressive batting average, .269, and a fielding record of .970.
