Ewing Kauffman Autographs

Ewing Kauffman was born in Garden City, Missouri, in 1916. He grew up playing baseball and was known for his batting skills. After graduating from high school, Kauffman attended Rockhurst College but left school to join the Navy during World War II. After the war, he returned to Kansas City and sold pharmaceuticals. However, his love for baseball never diminished, and he started the Kansas City Royals in 1969.
Kauffman’s passion for baseball led him to become a successful businessman. He purchased a minor league team, the Hawaii Islanders, in the 1960s and went on to establish the Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals. Under his leadership, the Royals reached the playoffs seven times, won six division titles, two American League pennants and the 1985 World Series Championship. He was known for his strong leadership, which extended beyond the baseball field, as he was determined to help grow the economic development of Kansas City, continually looking for ways to improve the city.
Kauffman’s contributions to the sport of baseball were recognized with his induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame and the Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame. However, his legacy extended far beyond baseball. His charitable organization, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, has since helped to improve education and entrepreneurship in Kansas City, supporting thousands of students and entrepreneurs, while also promoting economic development in the area. Kauffman passed away in 1993, but his impact on the game of baseball and his community continue to be celebrated to this day.
