Francisco Cabrera Autographs
Francisco Cabrera is a former professional baseball player born on October 10, 1966, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is best known for his role in the 1992 National League Championship Series (NLCS) where he helped the Atlanta Braves win the series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Cabrera was a catcher and first baseman who played for the Braves for six seasons from 1989 to 1994. He also played briefly for the Kansas City Royals in 1995 before retiring from baseball.
Cabrera’s defining moment in his baseball career came in Game 7 of the 1992 NLCS against the Pirates. He was called up to pinch-hit in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs and the bases loaded. Cabrera hit a single off Pirates pitcher Stan Belinda, scoring David Justice and Sid Bream to win the game 3-2 and send the Braves to the World Series. This memorable hit is known as “The Francisco Cabrera Game-Winning Hit” and is still remembered by Braves fans today.
In his six seasons with the Braves, Cabrera played in 208 games, hitting .254 with 10 home runs and 55 RBI. Although he did not have a long career in the major leagues, his clutch performance in the 1992 NLCS secured his place in Braves’ history and earned him a place in baseball lore. After his retirement, Cabrera returned to the Dominican Republic where he has been involved in youth baseball programs and coaching.
