Throughout his career, Castillo played primarily as a starting pitcher, but also worked as a reliever and closer for several teams, including the Colorado Rockies, Detroit Tigers, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Boston Red Sox. In total, he appeared in 350 games, earning a record of 82-104 with a 4.56 ERA and 1,121 strikeouts. He was known for his high fastball and good control, as well as his ability to consistently go deep into games, having pitched at least 200 innings in three separate seasons.

While Castillo may not have achieved the same level of recognition as some of the more well-known pitchers of his time, such as Randy Johnson or Greg Maddux, he was a respected player and contributed to several memorable games and moments throughout his career. In fact, his most notable achievement may have come in 1995, when he pitched a complete game shutout against the St. Louis Cardinals while striking out 13 batters, setting a new Cubs franchise record for strikeouts in a game. Castillo tragically passed away in 2013 at the age of 44, but his impressive legacy as a talented and respected pitcher lives on. Read even more about Frank Castillo at Wikipedia
