Frank Demaree Autographs
Frank Demaree was a professional baseball player born in Oklahoma in 1910. During his early years, Demaree played for high school and amateur teams earning the nickname "The Shawnee Express" because of his fast legs. After a brief stint playing for Scottsbluff, Nebraska, in 1930, he joined the professional league in 1932 with the Chicago Cubs. Demaree played as an outfielder, and his exceptional athletic abilities and quick reflexes helped him notch successful seasons.
Demaree considered one of the prolific hitters of his time, came into his own in 1935: he hit five home runs in one day, a feat considered very remarkable. He also finished that season with a .353 batting average and 103 RBIs, cementing his position as one of the Chicago Cubs' best players. Over his career, he batted .299, hitting 169 homers with 1008 runs batted in, playing for many teams like the Cubs, Giants, Cardinals, Red Sox, and Browns.
Frank Demaree was Forced to retire very early due to a shrapnel injury he sustained in World War II, he then became a Giants coach for seven years after his career ended. He earned a sterling reputation as a coach for his impressive skills in guiding his players to reach their potential. His record-breaking performance and contributions to the game of Baseball have earned him a place in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1976, a testament to his legacy as a baseball legend that was known as the "Rifle Armed Right Fielder."
