Frank Gustine Autograph

Frank Gustine was an American baseball player who enjoyed a twenty-year career in both the National and American Leagues. Born on February 20, 1920, in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, Gustine studied at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he played baseball and football. Gustine started his professional baseball career as part of the Class A-1 Little Rock Travelers in 1940. Gustine's career kicked off in 1941, where he played shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates. During his first season, he had a batting average of .250, with 129 hits in 516 at-bats. Throughout his career, Gustine was known for his solid defense and base-running skills, and over the years, he became a utility player and was used as a pinch hitter. Gustine played for the Pirates until 1951 and played for other teams, including the Chicago Cubs and the New York Giants. Gustine's career stands out due to the fact that he played several positions throughout his career and did them well.

After he retired from baseball, Frank Gustine became a real estate salesman and later became the owner of a wholesale sporting goods business. In 1986, Gustine was inducted into the Western Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. Although Gustine never made it to the Hall of Fame, his contributions to baseball have left a lasting legacy in the sport.
