Under Wilpon's leadership, the Mets experienced some of their greatest moments in franchise history. In 1986, the team won the World Series, thanks in part to the contributions of star players such as Keith Hernandez, Gary Carter, and Dwight Gooden. However, the team would also face some challenging times during Wilpon's tenure, including a financial scandal involving Bernie Madoff, which had a major impact on the team's finances.

Despite these ups and downs, Fred Wilpon's impact on baseball cannot be denied. He was instrumental in bringing some of the game's greatest players to New York, including Mike Piazza and Carlos Beltran. More importantly, he helped to foster a love of baseball in generations of Mets fans, who continue to root for their team through thick and thin. Today, Wilpon continues to serve as the CEO and co-owner of the New York Mets, and his love for the game remains as strong as ever. Read even more about Fred Wilpon at Wikipedia
