Freddy Galvis is a Venezuelan professional baseball player who has played for various major league baseball teams including the Philadelphia Phillies, San Diego Padres, and the Baltimore Orioles. Born on the 14th of November 1989, in Punto Fijo, Venezuela, Galvis began his career in baseball at a young age, playing in local youth leagues. He was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2006, and spent most of his early career playing in the minor leagues.
In 2012, Galvis finally made it to the major leagues, playing his first season with the Philadelphia Phillies. He quickly proved himself to be an excellent defensive player, with his fielding skills earning him widespread respect in the league. In 2015, he achieved a 98.5% fielding percentage, leading all shortstops in the National League. Galvis had an impressive career with the Phillies, batting a career-high .276 in 2016, and earning a Gold Glove Award in 2017 for his excellent defensive play.
Galvis has continued to excel on the field throughout his professional career, bringing his talents to a number of different teams. In 2018, he signed with the San Diego Padres, where he played the majority of the season before being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2019, he signed with the Cincinnati Reds, before joining the Baltimore Orioles in 2020. Though his career has taken him to several different teams, Galvis has remained a consistent and skilled player, earning the admiration of both teammates and opponents alike.
