Gary Nolan, born on May 27, 1948, in Herlong, California, is a former American professional baseball player. He played for twelve seasons in Major League Baseball as a right-handed pitcher. Nolan began his career in 1967 with the Cincinnati Reds, where he played for the majority of his career. Nolan was known for his exceptional control and ability to strike out batters. He had a career record of 110-70 and a career ERA of 3.08. He recorded 1,039 strikeouts in 1,553 innings pitched. In 1970, Nolan became the youngest pitcher to win a World Series game when he shut out the Baltimore Orioles in Game 2 of the series. He also led the National League in strikeouts per nine innings twice during his career.

Injuries plagued Nolan’s career, and he was forced to retire at age 31 due to complications from arm surgeries. Despite this, he was a two-time National League All-Star and won two World Series championships. Nolan’s impact on the Cincinnati Reds during the 1970s is still remembered by baseball fans today. He was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame in 1983 and remains a beloved figure in the history of the club.
