Scott spent four seasons in the Minor Leagues before making his debut in the Major Leagues in 1991. Though he played in only 60 games that season, he showed great promise, hitting .265 with six homers and 20 RBIs. However, the following season did not go as planned for Scott, and he struggled to find his form. He ended the campaign with an underwhelming average of .156 and just three home runs.

After the Cubs released him in 1994, Scott played in the minor leagues for a few more years, but he never made it back to the Major Leagues. Still, his time in the pros provided some memorable highlights, including a grand slam in 1991 that helped lift the Cubs to a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Overall, Gary Scott's baseball career may have been brief, but he remains a beloved figure in South Carolina and beyond thanks to his talent and passion for the game.
