George Kelly Autographs
George Kelly was an American professional baseball player who had an impressive career that spanned over a decade. Born on September 10, 1895, in San Francisco, California, Kelly began his professional baseball career in 1914 with the Victoria Bees of the Northwestern League. He played for several minor league teams before making his Major League Baseball debut with the New York Giants in 1915.
Kelly quickly established himself as a formidable player and became known for his exceptional fielding skills at first base. He played for the Giants for over a decade, helping the team win two National League pennants and the 1921 World Series. In 1924, he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds, where he continued to excel and helped the team win the National League pennant in 1939. Kelly was known for his consistency, and he was often referred to as "Highpockets" due to his tall stature and his ability to field high throws.
In 1973, George Kelly was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, recognizing his outstanding career in the sport. He retired with a career batting average of .297, with 148 home runs and 1,020 runs batted in. Kelly's contribution to the sport of baseball continues to be celebrated to this day, and his legacy lives on as one of the greatest players of his time.
