George Scott Autographs
George Scott was a professional baseball player who played for multiple teams in his career span, including the Boston Red Sox, the Milwaukee Brewers, and the Kansas City Royals. He started his career in the minor league in the early 1960s, and his outstanding performance earned him a promotion to the majors in 1966. George excelled in both offense and defense, and his style of play earned him the nickname "Boomer," which stuck with him throughout his playing days.
Scott was primarily a first baseman and was known for his exceptional fielding skills. He won eight Gold Glove awards in his career, second only to Keith Hernandez, who won 11 times. Besides his defensive abilities, he was also known for his prowess with the bat. He hit 27 home runs in 1969, setting a new record for Boston Red Sox first basemen. In his ten years with the Red Sox, he hit 154 home runs, driving in 620 runs during his tenure.
After the Red Sox, George Scott joined the Milwaukee Brewers in a trade deal in 1972. He played for them for four years and managed to hit 20 home runs or more each season, peaking at 36 in 1975. He ended his career with stints with the Kansas City Royals, the New York Yankees, and the Houston Astros before retiring in 1979. George Scott passed away in 2013 at the age of 69, but his contribution to the game of baseball, both as a fielder and a hitter, will never be forgotten.
