George Strickland was an American professional baseball player born on August 28, 1926, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for ten years, from 1950 to 1960, as a shortstop and third baseman for four different teams, including the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, and Milwaukee Braves. Strickland was known for his strong arm, excellent range, and outstanding defensive skills, earning him a reputation as one of the best fielding shortstops of his time.
