Parra began his professional baseball career in 2004 when he was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks as an amateur free agent. He worked his way up through the minor league system and made his debut in the Major Leagues on May 13th, 2009. Parra quickly established himself as a solid contributor, both on offense and defense. He earned a reputation as a reliable outfielder who could make difficult catches look easy.
