Glenn Davis Autographs
Glenn Davis was an American football player who was born on December 26, 1924, in Claremont, California. He grew up in Southern California and was a standout high school athlete, excelling in both football and track and field. Davis was recruited to play college football at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he became one of the most successful players in the history of Army football.
During his college career, Davis earned the nickname "Mr. Outside" for his exceptional running ability. He was part of a legendary backfield that also included fellow Heisman Trophy winner Doc Blanchard, who was known as "Mr. Inside." Together, Davis and Blanchard helped Army to win back-to-back national championships in 1944 and 1945, with Davis winning the Heisman Trophy in 1946. He finished his college career with 4,129 rushing yards and 59 touchdowns, both of which were school records at the time.
After his college career, Davis was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the 1947 NFL Draft. However, he never played professional football due to a knee injury suffered during his military service in the Korean War. Despite this setback, Davis remained active in the sport as a coach and commentator, and he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1961. Glenn Davis passed away on March 9, 2005, at the age of 80, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest football players in Army history and one of the most exciting players of his era.
