Leon "Goose" Goslin was born on October 16, 1900, in Salem, New Jersey. He was a professional baseball player for 18 seasons in the major leagues, primarily with the Washington Senators and the Detroit Tigers. He began his major league career with the Senators in 1921 and spent 11 seasons with the team before being traded to the Tigers in 1930. During his career, Goslin was part of two World Series championship teams with the Washington Senators in 1924 and 1925. He had a batting average of .344 in the 1924 series and drove in the winning run in Game 7. Goslin was a consistent hitter throughout his career, finishing with a lifetime batting average of .316. He also hit 248 home runs and had 1,609 runs batted in.
