Greg Goossen was an American professional baseball player who was born on December 26, 1945, in Los Angeles, California. He had a remarkable baseball career that spanned 7 years in the Major Leagues as well as 5 seasons in the minor league. He started his career playing as a catcher, but later switched to playing as an outfielder. Goossen had a natural strength and power that helped him develop into a dependable hitter. In 1964, he was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers right out of high school. After a few seasons in the minors, Goossen made his Major League debut with the Dodgers in 1965. The following season, he helped the team win the National League Championship, and was part of the line-up during the World Series. Goossen’s career path led him to playing for four more other MLB teams, including the New York Mets, the Washington Senators,Texas Rangers, and Seattle Pilots before ending his MLB career in 1970 with a .241 career batting average.

After retiring from baseball, Goossen focused on his career as a private investigator and actor. Throughout his life, he remained actively involved in baseball, coaching, teaching, and even working as a scout for the Kansas City Royals. Sadly, Goossen passed away on February 26, 2011, while undergoing heart surgery.
