Greg Norton Autographs
Greg Norton is a former American professional baseball player. The infielder and outfielder was born on July 6, 1972, in San Leandro, California. He played for nine different teams in his 13-year career in Major League Baseball (MLB) after being drafted in the second round by the Chicago White Sox in 1990 out of Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, California.
Norton's MLB career started in 1996 with the White Sox, where he hit .215 in 81 games as a rookie. In 1998, Norton was traded to the Detroit Tigers, where he had a successful season, hitting a career-best .278 with 14 home runs and 69 runs batted in over 135 games. Norton's career would then take him to the Colorado Rockies, Cleveland Indians, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Seattle Mariners, Atlanta Braves, and the Minnesota Twins before he retired in 2010. Although he never made an All-Star team or won a Gold Glove, Norton was a reliable utility player and a valuable pinch hitter.
After his playing days, Norton became a coach, starting with the Independent-League Traverse City Beach Bums in 2012 as a hitting coach. He later joined the Minnesota Twins as the hitting coach for their Single-A team before being promoted to the Triple-A team in 2016. Norton's baseball journey continues to influence and motivate both current and aspiring players.
