Greg Walker was born on October 6, 1951, in Douglas, Georgia. He was a professional baseball player and coach, primarily known for his 9-year career in the Major Leagues as a first baseman for the Chicago White Sox, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Minnesota Twins.
Walker had a solid career as a player, boasting a career batting average of .260 with 113 home runs and 437 RBI. He played for the Chicago White Sox from 1982 to 1990, and was known for his power at the plate, hitting at least 20 home runs in a season four times during his tenure with the team. Later in his career, he played briefly for the Baltimore Orioles and the Minnesota Twins.
After his playing career ended, Walker transitioned into coaching, becoming the hitting coach for the Chicago White Sox from 2003 to 2011. During this time, he played a critical role in the team's success, helping them win the 2005 World Series Championship. He also served as the hitting coach for the Atlanta Braves from 2012-2014, leaving his mark on the team's batting line-up. Walker's expertise in hitting and his dedication to the game of baseball have cemented his legacy in the world of baseball history.
