Alexander's pitching stats are impressive, even by today's standards. Over the course of his 20-year career, he won 373 games, struck out 2,198 batters, and had a career ERA of 2.56. He was particularly dominant during his time with the Cardinals, where he won two World Series titles and put up some of the best numbers of his career. Alexander was also known for his durability, as he once pitched 16 innings in a World Series game, which set a record that still stands to this day.

Despite his on-field success, Alexander's life was not without difficulties. He suffered from epilepsy, which caused him to have seizures on occasion. Despite this, he continued to excel on the field, which earned him a place in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1938. To this day, Alexander remains one of the most revered pitchers in the history of the game, and his record of 373 career wins is still the twelfth-highest total in baseball history.
