Harry Danning Autographs
Harry Danning was a professional baseball player who spent his entire career playing for the New York Giants from 1933 to 1942. Born in Los Angeles in 1911, Danning initially pursued football in high school before switching to baseball. In his early years, he played catcher and quickly established himself as a strong offensive player, known for his batting average and ability to hit home runs.
Danning’s best years came in the late 1930s when he was an All-Star and helped lead the Giants to the World Series in 1936, 1937, and 1938. He was known for his powerful arm behind the plate and his ability to hit for both average and power. In 1939, Danning batted .315 with 16 home runs and 68 RBIs, earning his second All-Star selection. He continued to perform at a high level until his retirement in 1942, finishing his career with a lifetime batting average of .285.
Danning’s success on the field was impressive, but he was also known for his dedication to his teammates and his fans. He was a true team player, always putting the success of the Giants above his own individual accomplishments. After his playing career, Danning continued to be involved in baseball, working as a coach and scout for various teams. He passed away in 2004 at the age of 92, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest catchers in Giants history.
