Hideki Okajima is a former Japanese professional baseball player who played as a left-handed relief pitcher. He was born on December 25, 1975, in Kyoto, Japan. Okajima started his career playing for the Yomiuri Giants in the Japanese Central League, where he made his debut in 1995. In 2006, Hideki Okajima signed with the Boston Red Sox, a team that had won the World Series a year earlier. He quickly became an essential part of the team's bullpen and helped the Red Sox win the World Series in his debut season. Okajima was known for his deceptive arm angle that made it hard for batters to pick up his pitches. He enjoyed a successful first season, recording a 3-2 record with a 2.22 ERA in 66 appearances. He followed it up with another good season in 2007, ending up with a 2-2 record with a 2.22 ERA in 66 games.

After his stint with Red Sox, Okajima played briefly for the Oakland Athletics and the New York Yankees in 2013 and 2014. He then returned to Japan and signed with the SoftBank Hawks in the Japanese Pacific League, where he played until his retirement in 2016. In his professional baseball career, Hideki Okajima recorded a 17-8 record and a 3.11 ERA with 559 strikeouts in 650 innings pitched over 623 games.
