Irv Noren

Irv Noren was a professional baseball outfielder who played for several teams in the Major League Baseball (MLB) during the 1940s and 1950s. Born on November 29, 1924, in Jamestown, New York, Noren began his baseball career in the minor leagues before being drafted into the military during World War II. After the war ended, Noren signed with the Washington Senators and made his MLB debut in 1950, where he played left field and batted .295, earning him a place on the American League (AL) All-Star team. Noren's professional baseball career spanned 11 seasons, during which he played for six different teams, including the Senators, New York Yankees, Kansas City Athletics, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Dodgers. Noren was known for his ability to hit for power as well as his defensive skills on the field. In addition to his All-Star recognition in 1950, he also won two World Series championships with the Yankees in 1952 and 1953, making crucial plays in both series.

After retiring from baseball in 1960, Noren stayed involved in the sport as a coach and manager. He worked as a coach for the Kansas City Royals, Seattle Mariners, and Oakland Athletics, and managed the Single-A Yakima Bears from 1972 to 1974. Noren is remembered as a well-respected player known for his excellent work ethic and versatile skill set on the field.
