J.J. Putz Autographs
J.J. Putz, born on February 22, 1977, is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher known for playing with the Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago White Sox, and New York Mets. Putz played for 11 seasons in the MLB, from 2003 to 2014, and recorded 599 strikeouts, 189 saves, and an ERA of 3.08. Putz played as a closing pitcher, with a fastball reaching 98 miles per hour and a signature pitch – the splitter. He was an All-Star in 2007 when he recorded a career-high 40 saves while playing with the Mariners. Putz retired in 2015 after a lengthy career in baseball, with a significant impact on the teams he played for.
Putz began his baseball career in college, where he played for the University of Michigan Wolverines. He then signed with the Seattle Mariners in 1999, where he spent his first six seasons in the minor leagues before making his debut in the MLB in 2003. Putz was a dominant closer for Seattle and recorded 79 saves in three seasons before being traded to the New York Mets in 2008. He played only one season with the Mets before signing with the Chicago White Sox in 2009, but his performance was hindered by injury. In 2011, Putz joined the Arizona Diamondbacks and had a career-high of 45 saves in 2011-2012, helping the team win the National League West division. However, injuries continued to plague Putz, and he retired in 2015, leaving a lasting legacy as one of the best closing pitchers of his time.
