Jack Armstrong Autographs
Jack Armstrong is a former professional baseball pitcher who enjoyed a successful career in Major League Baseball (MLB) during the 1980s and 1990s. Armstrong was born on March 7, 1965, in Englewood, New Jersey, and grew up in Ohio. He attended Rider University and played college baseball there before being drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the first round of the 1987 MLB draft.
Armstrong made his MLB debut with the Reds in 1988 and quickly established himself as one of the team's top pitchers. He had a breakout season in 1990, when he went 12-9 with a 3.42 ERA and helped lead the Reds to a World Series championship. Armstrong was named the National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player (MVP) that year after pitching a complete game shutout against the Pittsburgh Pirates in Game 3.
After his success with the Reds, Armstrong went on to pitch for several other teams in the MLB, including the Cleveland Indians, Florida Marlins, and Texas Rangers. While injuries ultimately cut his career short, Armstrong remains one of the most successful pitchers in Reds history, with a career record of 40-36 and a 4.34 ERA. His impressive performance in the 1990 postseason helped cement his legacy as a key player on one of the most memorable championship teams in MLB history.
