Buck's powerful voice, engaging style, and deep knowledge of the game endeared him to countless baseball fans across the country. His signature calls – "Go crazy, folks!" and "That's a winner!" – are still remembered and celebrated by fans today. Buck also enjoyed success beyond baseball, calling numerous Super Bowls and hosting a popular sports talk radio show in St. Louis. However, it was his connection to the Cardinals that remained at the heart of his career. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1987, in recognition of his immense contributions to the sport and to Cardinals' history.

In addition to his success as a broadcaster, Buck was also an accomplished author, penning two books about his life and career. He was a tireless advocate for charities and community causes as well, helping to raise millions of dollars for organizations such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the United Way. Buck passed away in 2002, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of the greatest sportscasters in American history. His contributions to baseball and to the St. Louis Cardinals will never be forgotten, and his words and calls will continue to inspire future generations of baseball fans for years to come.
