Jae-Weong Seo is a former South Korean professional baseball pitcher who enjoyed a successful career in the United States Major League Baseball (MLB) between 2002 and 2007. Born on May 24, 1977, in Gwangju, South Korea, Seo started his baseball career in high school before being drafted by the Korean National team. In 1998, Seo was signed as an International free agent by the New York Mets and began his professional career in the United States. He initially struggled to adjust to the American style of play, but his perseverance paid off, and by 2002, Seo became a regular starting pitcher for the Mets. He was named the National League Rookie of the Month for June that year and was an instrumental part of the Mets team that made it to the 2003 National League Championship Series.

Seo went on to play for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays before returning to Korea to play for the Samsung Lions in 2008. He retired from professional baseball in 2016 but continued to work as a pitching coach for both amateur and professional teams in Korea.
