Cave started his professional baseball career with the Gulf Coast League Yankees, where he hit .235 with one home run and 14 RBIs in 37 games. He gradually moved up the ranks, playing for different minor league teams, including the Tampa Yankees, Charleston RiverDogs, Trenton Thunder, and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

In 2018, Cave made his major league debut for the Minnesota Twins, where he hit .265 with 13 home runs and 45 RBIs in 91 games. The following year, Cave hit .233 with eight home runs and 28 RBIs in 72 games.
