Jamey Carroll is an American former professional baseball infielder who played for several teams in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 2002 to 2013. He was born on February 18, 1974, in Evansville, Indiana, and attended Evansville Harrison High School. Later on, he enrolled at the University of Evansville where he played college baseball. Carroll made his professional debut in the minor leagues with the Vermont Expos in 1997, playing as a utility player. In 2002, he made his MLB debut with the Montreal Expos as a pinch runner and the following year, he became the team's starting second baseman. Throughout his career, he played several positions including second base, shortstop, third base, and outfield. Carroll played for eight different teams during his career, including the Washington Nationals, Colorado Rockies, and Minnesota Twins. He was known for his versatility and his ability to come off the bench and play almost any position.

In 2013, Jamey Carroll announced his retirement from professional baseball, ending his career with a .272 batting average, 13 home runs, and 478 RBIs in 1,428 games played. After his retirement, he went on to become a minor league infield coordinator for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and he later returned to his alma mater, the University of Evansville, as a volunteer assistant coach. Due to his hard work and talent, Carroll earned a reputation as a dependable player on and off the field during a career that spanned over a decade in Major League Baseball.
