After high school, Brown attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he continued to excel both on and off the field. In 1990, he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the seventh round of the MLB Draft. Brown quickly moved up through the Twins' farm system and made his major league debut on June 26, 1994, against the Kansas City Royals.

Brown spent the majority of his career as a backup outfielder, playing for the Twins, Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants, and Seattle Mariners. He was known for his electrifying speed and strong defensive skills, which earned him a reputation as a valuable asset on the field. Brown retired from baseball in 2003 with a career batting average of .248, 8 home runs, and 117 stolen bases. Despite his relatively short career, Jarvis Brown left a lasting impact on the game of baseball, inspiring young players with his speed, agility, and determination.
