Jeff Zimmerman Autographs
Jeff Zimmerman was born on August 9, 1972, in Kelowna, British Columbia. He was a Canadian right-handed pitcher who played for the Texas Rangers from 1999 to 2001. Jeff had an excellent start to his career, as he won the American League Rookie of the Year Award in 1999. He followed up that excellent season with another strong showing in 2000, as he was named an All-Star and finished 5th in the Cy Young Award voting.
Zimmerman's success in the MLB was a surprise to many as he was originally an undrafted free agent. A graduate from the University of British Columbia, Jeff played for the Thunderbirds while completing his degree in zoology. Throughout his career, Jeff was an uncommon pitcher with a sidearm delivery, which proved to be a dominant way of pitching. His time in the big leagues was unfortunately cut short in 2001 by arm troubles which led him to retire early. Despite his short career, Jeff left a lasting impression with his unique style and his exceptional start to his career.
After retiring from baseball, Jeff Zimmerman founded Baseball Heat Maps, the widely used pitch tracking site that uses data visualization to help players understand their performance better. Jeff transferred what he knew about baseball and statistics into his web design and created an application that generates heat maps of all kinds of collection of critical baseball stats. Further, he became a consultant for the Kansas City Royals and has done work for Major League Baseball as well. Jeff, with his talent in baseball and data, has been a valuable asset to baseball organizations and players alike.
