Jerry Lucas Autograph

Jerry Lucas was born in Middletown, Ohio in 1940. He started playing basketball from a very young age and soon showed his immense talent in the game. In high school, he was a very successful player and led his team to three consecutive state championships. After high school, he decided to join Ohio State University to play basketball and continue his education. During his college basketball career, Lucas was one of the greatest players of his time. He led Ohio State to the NCAA championship in 1960, and his individual career was equally impressive. He was a three-time NCAA All-American and was also named the NCAA tournament’s most outstanding player. He was inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame in 1981. More about Jerry Lucas

After his college career, Lucas was selected by the Cincinnati Royals in the NBA draft in 1962. He played for the Royals for three seasons and established himself as one of the best forwards in the game. Lucas was known for his excellent rebounding skills, his shooting accuracy, and his ability to score from inside and outside the paint. He led the league in rebounding in the 1963-64 season and was named an all-star three times during his time with the Royals.

Lucas later played for various teams such as the San Francisco Warriors, New York Knicks and the Baltimore Bullets. He won his first championship with the Knicks in 1973. Lucas retired from basketball in 1974, and then moved onto other pursuits like writing, coaching and motivational speaking. He has been inducted into various Hall of Fames such as Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame, and the College Basketball Hall of Fame.
