Jerry Remy Autographs
Jerry Remy was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, in November of 1952. He played baseball at Somerset High School, where he excelled as a shortstop. He went on to attend Roger Williams University but left after his sophomore year to play professional baseball.
In 1971, Remy was drafted by the California Angels in the eighth round of the MLB draft. He made his major league debut with the Angels in 1975 and played for them for four seasons before being traded to the Boston Red Sox in 1978. He played second base for the Red Sox until 1985, earning All-Star honors in 1978 and 1979. Injuries forced him to retire in 1985, but he continued to be involved in baseball as a broadcaster for the Red Sox and as an infield coach for the team.
Remy's broadcasting career began in 1988 when he joined NESN as a color commentator for Red Sox games. He became a fan favorite for his humorous and insightful commentary, and he has won several awards for his work, including four Emmy Awards. He continues to work as a broadcaster for the Red Sox, and he has also served as a color commentator for national broadcasts of postseason games.
