Orosco made his MLB debut with the New York Mets in April 1979 and played for the team until 1987, becoming one of the most reliable relievers in the league. He helped the Mets win the 1986 World Series, pitching in three of the seven games and earning a save in Game 7. Orosco also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Brewers, Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres, and New York Yankees throughout his career. He retired in 2003 with a career record of 87-80, 144 saves, and a 3.16 earned run average (ERA).

Orosco holds the record for the most career pitching appearances in MLB history with 1,252, surpassing the previous record of 1,242 set by Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley. Orosco was a four-time All-Star and won two Rolaids Relief Man Awards in 1983 and 1984. He was known for his submarine pitching delivery, which made him difficult to hit for left-handed batters. In his later years, Orosco also became a mentor and coach for young baseball players. He was inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame in 2008, recognizing his accomplishments as a key member of the team's championship roster. Read even more about Jesse Orosco at Wikipedia
