Jim Barr Autographs
Jim Barr is a retired Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the San Francisco Giants and the California Angels from 1971 to 1983. Born on November 15, 1948, in Lynwood, California, Barr began his baseball career at Fresno City College, where he excelled as a pitcher. In 1971, he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants and made his MLB debut in September of that year.
In his twelve-year career, Jim Barr recorded 101 wins, 112 losses, and a career ERA of 3.56. He is best known for his impressive pitching performances, particularly his two complete-game no-hitters. The first one, against the Atlanta Braves in 1972, made him the first Giants pitcher since 1916 to throw a no-hitter in his first full season. His second no-hitter came in 1978 against the St. Louis Cardinals. Barr also holds the distinction of having pitched the most consecutive innings in a single season without allowing a home run, with 193 innings in 1972, a record that still stands today.
After retiring from baseball, Jim Barr went on to work as a pitching coach for several MLB teams, including the Seattle Mariners and the Arizona Diamondbacks. In recognition of his contributions to the sport, he was inducted into the Fresno County Athletic Hall of Fame in 1985. Today, he remains a beloved figure in the baseball community and a reminder of the glory days of the San Francisco Giants.
