Jim Beattie is a former Major League Baseball pitcher and executive who was born on July 4, 1954, in Hampton, Virginia. He attended the Dartmouth College, where he played college baseball and was drafted by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 1976 MLB draft. Beattie made his Major League debut with the Yankees in 1978 and spent three seasons with the team before being traded to the Seattle Mariners in 1981.
