Jim Brosnan Autographs
Jim Brosnan was a professional baseball player born on October 24, 1929, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He had an impressive 10-year career in Major League Baseball (MLB) pitching for a few teams. Brosnan started his career in 1954 with the Chicago Cubs, where he spent four years before moving on to play for the St. Louis Cardinals. He played for the Cardinals for three years before being traded to the Cincinnati Reds in 1961. Brosnan ended his baseball career with the Reds in 1963.
During his baseball career, Brosnan was known for his exceptional skills as a pitcher. He was a right-handed pitcher with a two-seam fastball, a change-up, and a slider. Brosnan's best season was in 1961, where he helped the Reds win the National League Pennant. He was a 10-game winner and recorded 16 saves that season. Brosnan's performance was remarkable, as he had a 2.48 earned run average (ERA) and threw 77 strikeouts in 79 innings pitched.
Jim Brosnan retired from baseball after the 1963 season but continued to contribute to the sport as an author. In 1960, he wrote The Long Season, a book that documented his life as a player for the Cardinals during the 1959 season. It was the first time a player wrote a book about his life in the sport. In 1963, Brosnan released another book called Pennant Race, which discussed the Reds' season that year. His books were well-received and provided insight into the lives of professional baseball players. Jim Brosnan died on June 28, 2014, at the age of 84.
