Jim Clancy is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for 14 seasons from 1977 to 1991. Clancy was born on December 18, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in California. He was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 11th round of the 1977 Major League Baseball draft and made his MLB debut on September 3, 1977, against the Texas Rangers. More about Jim Clancy

Clancy spent the majority of his career with the Toronto Blue Jays, where he was a key member of the team's starting rotation. He was known for his durability, starting at least 30 games in each season from 1982 to 1987. Clancy had his best season in 1984, when he went 14-13 with a 3.83 ERA and 155 strikeouts. He also helped lead the Blue Jays to their first-ever American League East division title that season.

In addition to his time with the Blue Jays, Clancy also pitched for the Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves, and the Texas Rangers during his career. He finished his career with a record of 140-167, a 4.19 ERA, and 1,304 strikeouts. Clancy's career may not have been as illustrious as some of his contemporaries, but his longevity and consistency on the mound make him a respected figure in the world of baseball.
