Jim Fregosi Autographs
Jim Fregosi was an American professional baseball player and manager who was born on April 4, 1942, in San Francisco, California. He started his career in the major league in 1961, when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels at the age of 19. Fregosi quickly established himself as a top-notch shortstop in the league, and he earned his first All-Star selection in 1964. He continued his impressive performance on the field over the next few years, and he was traded to the New York Mets in 1971, where he spent two seasons before retiring in 1978.
After his playing days were over, Fregosi transitioned into coaching and managing. He started his managerial career in 1978 with the Angels, and he would go on to manage five other teams, including the Philadelphia Phillies (1991-1996) and the Toronto Blue Jays (1999-2000). He also coached for several teams, including the Chicago White Sox and the Atlanta Braves, before retiring from baseball in 2000.
Throughout his baseball career, Fregosi was known for his ability to lead and motivate his team. He was a respected and beloved figure in the sport, and he was inducted into the Angels Hall of Fame in 1989. Fregosi passed away on February 14, 2014, at the age of 71, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most accomplished players and managers in baseball history.
