Jim Perry was a highly accomplished Major League Baseball pitcher who played for 17 seasons from 1959 to 1975. During his career, he played for five different teams, including the Cleveland Indians, the Minnesota Twins, the Detroit Tigers, the Oakland Athletics, and the Texas Rangers. Perry was born in Williamston, North Carolina, in 1935, and began playing baseball at an early age. He attended high school in the town of Aurora, where he excelled as a pitcher and was named an All-State player in 1953. He went on to play college baseball at Campbell University, where he continued to hone his skills as a pitcher.
