Jim Ray Hart was born on October 30, 1941, in Hookerton, North Carolina. He went on to become a professional baseball player, primarily playing third base for the San Francisco Giants for the majority of his career. Hart was known for his powerful bat and was a key contributor to the Giants during their successful seasons in the 1960s. He had his best season in 1966 when he hit .309 with 33 home runs and 93 runs batted in. Hart was also known for his solid defense at third base, winning the Gold Glove award in 1968.

Hart spent his final season with the New York Yankees in 1974 before retiring from baseball. He finished his career with a batting average of .278, with 170 home runs, 578 runs batted in and 805 hits. Jim Ray Hart's time in baseball left an undeniable impact on the sport and his performance for San Francisco Giants, in particular, will always be remembered.
