Jimmy King Autograph

Jimmy King was born on August 9, 1973, in Plano, Texas. He was the youngest of three children and grew up in a family that loved basketball. His father had played college basketball, and his older brother also played, so it was no surprise when Jimmy also showed an interest in the game. He attended Plano East Senior High School, where he played basketball and was named a McDonald's All-American in his senior year. More about Jimmy King

After high school, King joined the Michigan Wolverines basketball team, where he played alongside other talented players such as Jalen Rose, Chris Webber, and Juwan Howard. He helped the Wolverines reach the Final Four three times, twice losing in the championship game. In his sophomore year, King was named to the All-Big Ten first team. He went on to play professionally, including stints with the Toronto Raptors and the Denver Nuggets, before retiring in 2006. Despite his success on the court, King is perhaps best known for his role as a member of the "Fab Five," which was the nickname given to the highly talented Michigan basketball team of the early 1990s.

Off the court, King has been involved in a variety of community service projects, including working with at-risk youth, and helping to raise money for cancer research. He also returned to the University of Michigan to finish his degree in African-American Studies. King's talent and work ethic made him a standout player during his basketball career, but his dedication to others and his commitment to bettering himself off the court make him a true role model.
